What happens to the things that are removed?
When possible, we donate salvageable items to charity. Everything else is disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.
Who uses your service?
In general, anyone in need of junk removal or relocation services.
Specifically:
-People too busy to handle the process themselves.
-Landlords in need of a unit being cleared for sale or a new tenant.
-Realtors with a client in need.
-Homeowners that want to move, or have access to a space that is unusable due to clutter.
What type of payment do you accept?
We are equipped to process cash, checks, credit, and debit cards.
How much do you charge?
We price by volume, based on how many segments of a truck are needed to do the job well. A quote will be provided prior to any work being done. Jobs requiring additional trucks will receive 10% off per truck.
Are there any other fees?
No, we will never surprise you with an unexpected fee. All of our prices are upfront and clear, before we agree to work together.
How will you know what to take and what to leave behind?
As part of the process, we will ask you to specify which items to move or remove, and which are to be left behind.
Will the movers arrange my furniture in my new home?
Yes. We realize that moving can be stressful and want you to have peace of mind. As our movers bring furniture into your new home, simply direct them on where each piece should go.
Do I need to provide refreshments to the workers?
Thank you for thinking of us! While this is not required, and our workers come prepared, they would appreciate any hospitality you show toward them.
Do I need to tip the workers?
Again, thank you for thinking of us! Tipping is appreciated, but not required. If you are extremely satisfied with our service and wish to do so, we have found from experience that most people tip at a rate of $3-4 per worker, per hour.
Can I get a lower quote by having a friend help?
When it comes time to move belongings or remove unwanted items, it is best to let professionals handle the job. We come highly trained and experienced. Having someone attempt to help our team would likely slow the process down. Friends and family are usually most helpful if you elect to pack your own belongings beforehand, or by caring for your children or pets while the move takes place.
Can you move me long-distance?
Yes, we can. This is a service that we are happy to provide, and at a very competitive rate (typically $3.50 - $5.00 per mile). Contact us today for details.
Do you pack and unpack as well?
Yes, we do, for local moves only. We offer packing assistance as well as packing materials.
Will you move everything I’ve packed?
The rule of thumb is ‘yes.’ Our movers are trained to recognize potential issues, however, and will not be able to move anything prohibited by law. Also, should they be concerned that an item will become damaged as a result of the way it was packed, they will request that it be repacked. If necessary, they are able to do this for an additional charge.
Can I leave my belongings in drawers or cabinets?
While that may save some time, we advise against this as items may become loose or damaged if not packed properly.
What do you do to protect my furniture?
We are careful to use appropriate packing materials as well as cautious handling techniques to ensure that your items are moved safe and damage-free.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are licensed and insured.
Will my things be covered against damage or loss?
Yes, we offer insurance at the rate of $0.75 per pound.
Can I trust your employees?
Absolutely! We only hire trustworthy individuals that have passed our screening process. Each worker you hire lives locally, in nearby neighborhoods and cities, and they understand that their personal reputation is at stake.
Do I need to be present?
Yes, it is best if you are available when we arrive. This allows for any clarification you may wish to give, or questions you may have for us to be answered.
Is there anything you need from me?
Other than being present for our service, we do not require anything. We want you to rest assured that we will exceed your expectations.
What if I can only be available after-hours?
For safety reasons, we prefer to work during daylight. Should you need our service after hours, we may be able to accommodate you. Be sure to contact us for a final determination.
Do you offer any storage options?
While we do not own or operate storage units, we are able to deliver your belongings to a storage unit, if you choose.
What’s the advantage of your service over something like a dumpster?
There are several advantages to hiring Dr. Clutter:
We will do all of the labor and cleanup.
We charge only for the space used in the truck.
We are trained professionals, meaning that you and your property are treated with appropriate respect and that the job will be done as efficiently as possible.
With a dumpster, consider that:
You are responsible for all of the work and cleanup.
They will charge you for use of the entire bin, even if you only use a fraction of it.
They are unsightly, and very noticeable by others in your community.
They may cause damage to your yard during loading and unloading, and will kill off grass if left for too long.
Why should I hire a mover?
Moving is generally considered inconvenient and stressful. It also calls for particular skill when dealing with heavy or bulky items. We recommend professional service for times like these, and this is why we have made it our business to be there when you most need us. With over 12 years of experience as both a moving and junk removal service, we can handle even the most difficult jobs with skill. And because we are local, we’ll treat your move the way we would want to be treated: with care.
How large are the trucks?
Our trucks are sizable, able to contain roughly 8 times the typical load of a pickup truck.
What sort of equipment do you use?
Our most important resource is our people. We’re strong, dependable, and efficient. After that, we make use of various hand tools and yard equipment and, of course, our trucks. We come prepared with the tools necessary to get your job done right, the first time.
